Ramsgate's Summer Squall Arts Festival
Ramsgate Art Group are all set for another festival following on from the success of last year's August Bank Holiday event.
The weekend programme is packed with art including painting, sculpture, photography, music, poetry, street theatre and ofcourse the chance to meet many of our talented local artists, see their studios and buy their work.
Over 20 of our local artists are showcasing their work for Thanet Open Studios and their studios will be accessible for 2 days from Saturday 27th August with their doors open from 11am - 4pm. You can download a map showing all the featured artists studios/houses at www.ramsgatearts.org/open-studios.pdf but if you click on the following link you can find out about all the other events taking place including a mini festival on Sunday at Ellington Park and an Arts and Crafts market at the harbour on Monday www.ramsgatearts.org
Good luck to all involved!
The last few weeks have been so busy with a series of annual events that are also worth a mention.
The Royal Temple Yacht Club hosted another successful Ramsgate Week also known as "The Friendly Regatta". the 5 day event started on 25th July and some very exciting races were watched from our shores. We had a sailing team from The Netherlands staying with us competing in their boat "Captain Jack". They all had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed their time in Ramsgate. The following week saw the start of Broadstairs Folk Week and many of our guests came to enjoy and take part in the week long event that kicked off on 5th August. There were hundreds of events including music, dancing and singing. There were even progressive workshops where you could learn an instrument (from the cello to the didgeridoo!) and each day you could attend and hopefully progress through the week. Many events are free and the atmosphere is priceless so if you want to know more about this year's Folk Week and what's in store for next year click on www.broadstairsfolkweek.org
